About the Role
Job Description: An Environmental Services (EVS) worker is responsible for maintaining strict sanitation and infection control. Their primary duties include disinfecting patient rooms, operating theaters, and common areas, managing biohazardous waste, and ensuring the facility meets all health regulations.
Requirements
Preferred: High School diploma or equivalent education.
Preferred: Previous hospital housekeeping experience.
Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.
Demonstrates behaviors consistent with the Healing Environment principles of being professional, communicating effectively and attending to the environment. This is evidenced by work behavior which ensures safety, promotes dignity, respect, well being, and exemplifies healthy relationships.
Demonstrates knowledge and skill necessary to provide service based on the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety criteria for adults, pediatrics, adolescent, geriatric, age groups in his or her area of service.
Incorporates Safety into all aspects of work. Uses "wet floor" signs properly. Responds to Emergency pages. Uses proper body mechanics, i.e. ergonomics. Properly uses chemicals including usage and dispensing.
Maintains assigned areas in a clean and sanitary condition for patients, residents, guests, visitors and staff. Cleans beds, restrooms, furniture, fixtures and etc. Refills supplies. Promptly removes trash and linen. Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner.
